Orphanages we work with
Children Transit Home (CTH)
CTH is a state-owned institution that houses orphaned children between the ages of 3 and 17. The facility has suffered extreme neglect, resulting in poor sanitary and living conditions. Since 2006, UKF has (i) provided an overhead water tank with an inbuilt water purifier to supply clean and potable water; (ii) installed ceiling fans in the bedrooms and offices; (iii) continuously provided a monthly supply of charcoal for cooking; (iv) deepened the existing water well; (v) evacuated and reconstructed the soak away pit and repaired waste water lines; (vi) repaired the potable water network – taps, pipes, elbows etc; and (vii) repaired/re-installed the faulty pumping machine. We have also provided educational support by renovating their classrooms, hostels and recreation rooms, provided furniture, playground equipment, educational materials and also encouraged enrolment of the children for primary school leaving examinations so that they can attend secondary schools.
Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice (HOG)
HOG is a privately owned hospice catering for orphaned children with medical challenges such as cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and HIV/AIDS. UKF initially supported HOG by providing groceries and supplies, but we later increased our support  to assisting the hospice with payment of staff salaries and completing its critical building expansion – we donated building materials worth over NGN500,000. We were extremely honoured and humbled to be presented with a Humanitarian Award at the Hospice’s Awards Ceremony in MUSON Center, Lagos in October 2006. Our relationship with HOG has been a long standing one, which is why they agreed to have their facility host their children and those from other orphanages during our annual Christmas parties.
UKF also supports the children at
Bab-es-Salaam Orphanage Home
Lagos State Motherless Babies Home
Little Saints Orphanage
Children’s Transit Home Ayobo
The children living in these orphanages are included in our Back to School and holiday/social development activities.
Every last Saturday, we rotate visits among these orphanage homes to spend quality time reading with the kids of the home, watching movies or playing educational games. We also have share Birthday cheers with children in the home, born that particular month.
